What's on Your First Maple Broadband Bill

If you opened your first bill from us and thought, wait, that's not what I signed up for, that's a reasonable reaction. You picked a plan at $69.95 or $89.95 or $119.95, and the total says something closer to $200 or $300.

The total is right. And it's a one-time thing. A few charges that only happen once all land on that first bill.

You're paying for a little more than one month

We bill a month ahead. Your first bill covers the days between your install and the end of that month, plus the whole month after.

Say you're on Amber Medium at $89.95 and we installed your service on August 12. The bill that comes September 1 has about $57 for the rest of August and $89.95 for September. That's around $147 for internet before anything else. If you have a home phone with us, it works the same way: part of August, all of September.

One time charges

The most common one is a battery backup, which keeps your home phone working when the power goes out. It's $100 plus sales tax. You'll only see it on this first bill.

You’ll  also see $149.95 for installation. If your install was free during an active promotion, there's a $149.95 credit right below it, and the two cancel out. If not, the $149.95 fee will be included in your first bill.

Other things people ask about

Phone service comes with some small federal and Vermont taxes and fees. Internet doesn't, so your internet line should match your plan price.

Our operating partner, WCVT, handles billing for us. That's why the online payment site, SmartHub, has "wcvt" in the address. It's the right place to pay. If you're mailing a check, use the address on the stub at the bottom of the bill. However, due to the high rate of check fraud, we recommend setting up an ACH transfer by linking your bank account in SmartHub or calling customer service.

After the first bill

Your second bill is your plan price for the month ahead, plus phone service and its fees if you have it. That's it. The price doesn't climb after a few months.

If something on your bill still doesn't add up, call us at [support line], Monday through Friday from 8 to 5, or email service@maplebroadband.net. Have the bill in front of you and we'll go through it together.

And if the monthly price is hard to fit in your budget, LEAF takes $30 a month off for households that qualify.
