GETTING CONNECTED
Getting fiber internet installed shouldn't be a mystery. Here's exactly what to expect when Maple Broadband comes to your home or business.
When you sign up for Maple Broadband service, you're not just getting internet—you're joining a community-owned network that's built by and for the people of Addison County. We want your installation experience to be as smooth and transparent as the fiber connection we're bringing to your door.

01
Check Availability
The first step is the easiest one—just visit our website and enter your address to see if service is available in your area. We're constantly expanding our network across Addison County, so even if service isn't available today, registering your interest helps us prioritize where to build next.
What we're looking for:
-
Use our address lookup tool
-
Select the service plan that fits your needs
-
Register your interest and contact information
02
Connection Assessment a.k.a "The Scout"
01
Site Assessment
We'll take a look at your property and figure out the best route from our network to your building. Every place is different—some have perfect utility pole placement, others need a little more creativity. We're looking at distance, terrain, and any obstacles so we can plan the smartest approach for your specific situation.
02
Connection Options
This is where we talk through what works best for your place. Aerial connections use existing poles, go up faster, and cost less. Buried service looks cleaner but takes more planning and time. We'll explain both options, the costs, and timelines so you can decide what makes sense for your property and budget.
03
Planning & Coordination
Every connection has different requirements—some need utility coordination, others require Dig Safe clearances, and longer runs might need easements. We'll figure out what applies to your situation and work with you to get everything sorted. We know the local process and can guide you through what needs to happen, but some steps might require your involvement too.
03
Outdoor Connection a.k.a. "The Drop"
This is where the real construction happens. We'll run the fiber-optic cable from our main network to the outside of your building. Depending on whether you're getting aerial or buried service, this step looks a bit different.
01
For aerial connections:
-
We'll string the fiber cable from the nearest utility pole to your building
-
We install a weatherproof connection point on the outside of your home
-
Usually completed in a single day
02
For buried connections:
-
You're responsible for following our buried service requirements to trench and run conduit from the road to your building
-
We'll pull fiber cable through the conduit to the building and install a weatherproof connection point where the cable enters the building
-
May take several days depending on distance and terrain
03
What you can expect:
-
We'll coordinate the timing with you in advance
-
Our crews will work to minimize disruption to your property
04
Weather considerations:
Vermont weather can sometimes impact our construction schedule, especially for buried installations during colder months. We'll keep you updated if weather causes any delays.

04
Schedule Indoor Installation
Once your outdoor connection is complete, we'll contact you to coordinate the final indoor installation. This is when we set up your account information and schedule a time that works for both of us.
What we'll coordinate:
-
Your service plan and billing information
-
A convenient time for the indoor installation appointment
-
Any special requirements for equipment placement inside your home
Before the appointment:
-
Think about where you'd like your equipment located (basement, utility room, closet)
-
Consider where you'll want Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home
-
Clear access to the area where we'll be working
05
Completing Your Connection and Getting You Online
This is the exciting part—when everything comes together and you get to experience the reliability and speed of fiber internet for the first time.
What our technician will do:
-
Install the indoor equipment (Optical Network Terminal and power supply)
-
Connect your devices or help set up your Wi-Fi network
-
Test your connection to make sure you're getting the speeds you signed up for
-
Show you how everything works and answer any questions
Before we leave:
-
We'll make sure you're completely satisfied with your connection
-
Provide you with contact information for customer support
-
Give you any documentation about your service
